The mountain pass of Kuturma is located in the region of Djalal-Abad, in the western part of Kyrgyzstan, in 240 km to south-west of Bishkek. Above sea level, the height of the pass is just over 2,400 meters.
To the north of the pass the terrain becomes mountainous, and to the south it changes hilly. The area around the Kuturma Pass is mountainous north, but the south is hilly. The highest point in the district is 2894 meters above sea level and is 1.3 km northwest of the pass itself. The area around the Kuturma Pass is poorly populated: 24 people per square kilometer, but there you can find pastures, picturesque meadows with wildflowers, rare plant species.
