The Kyrgyz Ala-Too is part of the inner mountain ranges of the Tien Shan. The Ala-Too range is considered to be one of the highest and most powerful mountain ranges of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, covering 375 km in length and reaching up to nearly five thousand meters above sea level.
Following the northern side of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too, we will explore the alpine meadows, coniferous forests, roaring rivers, stunning waterfalls, beautiful lakes and rocky gorges of the Sokuluk, Ala-Archa, Kegety and Chon-Kemin Valleys. We will cross passes, explore the petroglyphs of the ancient Scythians on the shore of the famed lake Issyk-Kul and, at their peak, our treks will take us to foot of the Bolshoy Ala-Archinsky and Ak-Say glaciers.
In addition to enjoying the clear mountain air and wonderful landscapes, such as the 60m high Sokuluk waterfall and 2735m asl turquoise-blue mirror that is Kol-Tor Lake, our trek will also allow you to take advantage of some uniquely Kyrgyz activities such as river rafting, horse riding, traditional felt production and see traditional Kyrgyz yurts.
